Show Rodeo Grounds Joint Use Being Studied The Grand County Commission, Commis-sion, meeting with the stock car racing group Monday evening, gave official approval for the development of a stock car racing track inside the existing horse track at the rodeo grounds. However, objections came to light later at the rodeo committee meeting, and have caused the Commission to plan a session between the two groups to see if problems can be ironed out. Rodeo committee members contended thai iiie arena is currently used almost daily by young and adult riders, and that having stock cars in the same area would not be feasible. On the other hand, it was pointed out that the grounds would be put to much better utilization if stock car racing were also allowed, and would additionally provide lights and grandstand for the benefit of participants and observers. Some felt that the major obstacle was scheduling of the area, and County Commissioner Commis-sioner A. Dan Holyoak stated that a meeting of the two groups, hoped for before the next Commission meeting Aug. 4, should produce some solutions to the problems. |
