Party Held to Conclude Summer Reading Program A party was held at the Grand County Library Aug. 14 for all children who have participated in the Summer Reading Program and the Story and Craft Hour. Certificates were presented to 50 children who read 10 or more books during the summer, sum-mer, and those children who were judged most outstanding outstand-ing readers judged by age and the difficulty of books read, were given books as prics. The winners, ages and number of books read were: Jacqueline Young, 7, 93 books; Jim Holyoak, 8, 73 books; Carol Holyoak. 9, 98 books; Susan Holyoak, II. 84 books; Betty Winfield. 12. 80 books; Jimmy Winfield. 9, 78 books; and John Winfield. 10, 89 books. Librarian Gloria Dcnncy stated that the story and craft hour program, geared to younger children who do not yet read, was very successful this year with an average of 75 ? ennoren attending tnc weekly Thursday morning sessions, j Over 100 children participated ! in the regular reading prog- ? ram. |
