Show La Sal Mountain Snow Lowest In Years The March 28th snow measurement on the LaSal Mountain courses, recently completed toy Soil .Conservation .Conserva-tion and Forest Service personnel, is the lowest on record in the Moab Forest Service offices. The survey was made Tuesday by Kedric Somer-ville, Somer-ville, of Monticello SCS offices, of-fices, and Ed Johnson, of the Moab PS branch. Snow depth on the upper LaSals is 26.7 inches; water content 8.9 inches. In 1966 the water content was 18 inches; in 1965, 17.7 inches. The 1964 water content of 9.8 inches was the only year on record which compared com-pared to the 1967 measurement, measure-ment, and even then there was still 5 inches of mois- ture on the lower level. This year the lower level was void of snow. The two officials said the official April 1st measurement measure-ment is usually made in a special snow machine; this year they traveled in a pick up to the pole fence on Brumley Ridge. The moisture content registered reg-istered this year is 47 percent per-cent of a 15-year average maintained by the two agencies. |
