Show STATEMENT ON ARBITRATION TREATY WASHINGTON. June 30. Following a call ot Bccretary Knox at the white house a formal statement setting forth the status ot the arbitration negotiations negotia-tions between the United States nd Great Britain was given out. The statement follows: "The British embassador's call at the white house Wednesday, where he had gone to express to the president the progress made with the secretary ol state in the arbitration negotiations, has been followed by many published statements onrerning the terms of the -treatv. The fact was that the president presi-dent 'and the British embassador had little lit-tle or no discussion concerning the terms of the treatv, but thst mutual congratulations were extended on the fact that Secretary Knox and he, because be-cause of their conference, looked forward for-ward to a atisfactory conclusion. "Some of the statements that have been made in the past as to the terms of the treatv are inaccurate Snii misleading mis-leading in respect to important features of the proposed convention. "Nothing can now be said with reference ref-erence to the convention other than that there will be no substantial change from the general features of the treaty aa given out by secretary of state on Mav 17. |
