The oil eompany has offered to furnish, free of charge at its mines near frirnnyside. Utah. 00,000 tona of crude asphalt to be used in the Jbuilding of at least a part of tha road between tha two cities. cit-ies. Tha mines of tha eompany are about six miles from tha track of tha Denver A Bio Grande, and it is understood that the coat of hauling the material to tha railroad would be small. It is also believed that a special freight rate can be aeeured by the state from the railroad eompany for the hauling of the material to the nearest point On the Denver A Bio Grande where it may be needed. As the track of tha railroad eompany ia close to the highway for nearly the entire distance between this city and Ogden the cost of moving the asphalt to the highway would be small. The offer of the oil company has been submitted tv the Commercial etnb of this city aa well as to Governor Spry. It is expected that within the next two or three daya the governor and members of the state roaa commission' and the good road committee of the Commercial elub will hold a meeting, at which the matter will be thoroughly discussed. |
