Show (MX HAS RICH ALPHA ORE ZONE Off 1200' LEVEL - Confirmation of the big strike in the Gironx properties was received ia this city today. Joseph 8. Jordan, who scouts the camp daily and guides ths affairs of Copper Ore, gives the following follow-ing account of tha strike mad at this Ely property: The most important news of the week ia mining la the district was ths encountering of the Alpha ore body at the 1200-foot level ia tha Gironx shsft of Giroux Consolidated. Nobody acquainted with ths workings of ths Giroux Coasolidsted has ever doubted that they would get tha ore at -this depth; but it ia no longer a matter of conjecture. They have the ore. Tbey passed through the iron capping cap-ping at the 1200 and were ia the dike oa last Saturday; on Monday they be-I be-I gsn getting bits of nstive copper, and i on Tuesday thev broke into what no doubt the real bodv of ora which made the Giroux the famous property that it' i is when it was first opened up ia the ! Alpha shaft several yeara ago. The crosscut at tha 1200 was stsrtrd about 700 feet from tha Alpha shaft, with the latter as its objective point. It broke through the iron capping at a distance of ninety-four feet from the Alpha, and into 'ledge matter, which gives an idea of ths width of the Alpha ora bodv at this point. Oa tha 1400-foot level they are out from tha Giroux shaft aearlv 400 fset and hava between 300 and 850 feet vet to go to reach ths ore body. At this level they hava encountered a big stream of -water, for tha handling of which they have adequate pumping facilities. fa-cilities. At this station they have a Prescott pump, with a capacity of 800 gallons a minute, which lifts the water to the 1200, where it is eared for by the 1200 and 600 gallons a minute capacity ca-pacity pumps. The work of development will be con. tinned on the 1400, while the ora will be blocked out on tha 1200 level. The ore is high grade, that of tha Alpha averaging in the neighborhood of 12 per cent copper. It ia a direct gmslting product, nnd this mesne that it win find its way to the smelter aa soon as possible. It ia quite probable that ia a very short while wa will hava another an-other shipper in the camp.' It is also more than likely that the ore will Be sent to ths International smelter in Tooele canyon for treatment, this being. be-ing. tha property of the Cole-Ryan syndicate, syn-dicate, owners of control of the Giroux. I Rumors of a visit to tha property by the president in tha very Bear future are current. NEW YORK LISTED STOCKS. Jsmea A.
