Show DEAD MAN PLAYS THE RACES AND WINS BET SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. H. "Tou can t cash that bet. You're a dead man." It was not -the threat of a bad man of the plains that greeted Pete Sheridan, the well-known owner of a etrlng of racera. when he approached a bookmaker after the aecond race at Emeryville today. Sheridan had a stable boy. P. 8. Herman, Her-man, who shot himself at Loa Gatos a few days ago. He had with him a receipt made out to Sheridan, so the Coroner's Jury decided It was Sheridan and he was pronounced dead. The funeral arrangements arrange-ments had almoat been completed by the horse owner's friends when Sheridan objected. |
