Of the six bills up for final reading and passage, one was recommitted, and the others were passed. Probably the most Important bills to go through were House bills No. 21, 22, and 23, which make the present law regarding contracts made, legal papers pa-pers transmitted and processes orer the telegraph, apply also to telephones. The bill for the disposition of bodies of criminals and county charges was passed. A bill was also passed providing provid-ing for seats for motormen. that all street cars be supplied with air brakes and a conductor and motorman for each train. The House received an invitation to attend the ball given by the Utah National Na-tional -Guard at the armory Monday night. The members will avail themselves them-selves of the invitation. Senators by Direct Vote. The Kansas Legislature communicated communi-cated with the House in regard to a proposed constitutional convention for an amendment providing for the elec tion of United States Senators by direct vote of the people. The communication was referred the Committee on Federal Fed-eral Relations. The following bills were favorably reported from the various committees and advanced: H. B. 128, bv Tolton; H. B. 124. bv Richards; H. 8. 127. bv Robinson; H. B. 115, bv Taft; H. B. 63. by Richards; H. J. M.5, by Critehlow. The Committee, on Agriculture and Horticulture on account or the necessity of a constitutional amendment presented pre-sented a substitue for H. B. No. 2. relating re-lating to drainage districts. A communication was received from the Senate announcing that that bodv refused to concur in the House amendments amend-ments to B. Nos. 19 and 23. Confer ence committees were appointed on the bills. Disposition of Bills. The bills passed upon vesterdav were: H. B. No. 61, Kuehler To compel com-pel street railwavs to provide seats for motormen and air brakes on cars was read a third time, and after a prolonged pro-longed debate was passed. I S. B. No. 26. Miller To provide for ten feet of discovery work in ninety days on all mining claims, was. on motion of Mr. Speaker, recommitted to the Committee on Mining and Smlt ing. H. R No. 21.
