Show TEAMSTERS MAY HAVE BIG STRIKE Six Thousand Drivers in Boston LiKely to Quit WorK Because of Rejection Rejec-tion of Waje Demand. BOSTON, March 25. With a strike of 6000 team drivers in and about Boston Bos-ton pending, the executive committee of the general truck Teamsters' union, No. 12, has been given full authority to act in the matter. I A unanimous vote to this effect was aken at a meeting of the union last bight. The trouble grew out of the refusal re-fusal of the master team drivers to Sign the working agreement for 1097 and 1908, presented to them by the Team Drivers' union. The new agreement agree-ment calls for one-half hour less in a day's work and relief from Sunday and holiday work; which will necessitate the employment of additional stablemen. The new wage demand is for an increase of $1 a week for all classes of teamsters. I The present agreement expires April 3, and as the great majority of the teamsters have agreed to stand by the union in case the new agreement is rejected, re-jected, it is believed that a strike can-, can-, not be avoided. |
