Show IMPORTATIONS SHOW WONDERFUL INCREASE NEW YORK, April 8. If the extraordinary ex-traordinary increase in importations at the port of New York continues at the ' present rate, it is probable that Congress Con-gress will be called upon to provide an additional building for the appraisers' warehouse. Collector Stranahan reports the present customs receipts daily averaging aver-aging $70,605.98 in excess of those of a year- ago, foreshadowing the heaviest twelve months' business in the history of this Port. The daily receipts at the local customs cus-toms house during the fiscal years 1905, 1906, averaged $678,973, while so far this year the average is $749,579. |
