Show The steamship companies plying between our western ports and Yokohama have had the cheek to wire. President Roosevelt, protesting against restriction restric-tion of Japanese coolies from coming to the United States. A patriotic outfit are they. They have the interest of this country so much at heart. They have such a desire to keep the laborers of this country at such wages that they can afford to bring up their children country-loving and useful citizens.. Their disinterestedness is touching. If any companies so telegraphing are present recipients of Government money, for carrying mails or Government supplies, we hope the Government will abrogate their contracts, con-tracts, for they would not care if their bringing coolies here would result in an exhaustive war. |
