SAN FRANCISCO, March 5 There waa a riot in a local theater last night during the progress, of an Irish play. The players play-ers were hooted, egga were thrown by the dozens and three times about forty persons charged the stage and the actors and actresses feared that they were about to be attacked. The object for the Jeers, hisses and demonstration waa the player who took the part of Mrs. Mc-Cluskey. Mc-Cluskey. one of the leading characters. Indignant because the woman's part in the first act called for the drinking of a f lags of beer, two score men, members of rlsh societies of this city, charged the stage, and for half an hour refused to allow the play to go on. Riot calls were sent In and a squad of police was dispatched dis-patched to the place. The demonstration at the end of the last act resulted in the objectors being ejected from the house. |
