Two hundred thousand engineers, under the leadership leader-ship of Herbert Hoover, will participate in a campaign to bring about estab-liahment estab-liahment of a department of public works in the national government. This waa announced yesterday In a statement regarding the merging nf the engineering council, formed In 1917 as a war measure, with the American en-j gtneerlng council of the Federated j American Kngineering societies. Mr. I Hoover is president of the council. The body will add Its influence to the campaign of the national public works department association supporting support-ing the Jones-Reaves bill calling for creation of a department of public works by making over the department of tho Interior, the statement said. President-elect Harding, It added, "is very much In favor of bringing together under one department all the present agencies of public works now scattered around Washington." |
