Show EXPERT PRAISES AQUEDUCT PLAN Speaking to the Utah Society of Professional Engineers at the New-house New-house hotel Monday night, W. L. Huber of San Francisco, member of the California earthquake commission, commis-sion, praised the design of the proposed pro-posed Deer creek aqueduct. The plan to bring the water to Salt Lake City above the ground is the most feasible, sinre it must croaa the WawaU-h fault, he aaid. , In event the fault should slip, he said, it would be an easy matter to , repair the aqueduct. I But if the water were carried sub-(surface sub-(surface and the fault should slip, .repairs would be costly and slow. Since there are facilities for storage ' of water west of the fault, the city would have ample supply while repairs re-pairs on the aqueduct were being made, he said. Mr. Huber and Dr. B M Wood of Berkeley, Cal., told engineers that ' earthquakes have taught architects to design buildings in irregular or set-bark style to prevent "batter-1 ings" during tremors. |
