AIDS SWORN IN PRICE Nine Carbon county officials, four of them newcomers, took their oatha of office at tha courthouse Tuesday at noon, with District Judge George Chriatenacn officiating. A few minutes after noon Judge Chrtstensen administered 'the oath of office to Commissioners D, A. Tldwell, who Joins tha board for tha first time, and Orvel Peterson, who begina hla aecond term of office, of-fice, and also to Brlgham H. Young. Who waa reelected county clerk. Immediately following Judge Chriatensen's action, Mr. Young rwore In Arthur N. Smith, county treasurer; Charlea Semken, county assessor, and Edward 8hey, county coun-ty attorney, all of whom are beginning be-ginning their first term In the re-. re-. spectivs offices, and also to tha following incumbents: S. Marion Bliss, sheriff; Katie Liddell, recorder, re-corder, and Carl Nyman, surveyor. Congratulate Alda Dr. C. R. Fahring, chairman of the board of county commissioners, holdover In the November elections, elec-tions, congratulated tha officials on joining tha county'a official family fam-ily and expressed a desire that peace and harmony should prevail during tha coming year. A special meeting of the commission com-mission waa called for 2 p. m., at which Dr. Fahring waa again elected elect-ed to aerva aa chairman of the board. Following the election, the commissioners segregated county business Into three sections, with ons commissioner to be responsible for each section. Divisions were made aa follows: First, county roads; aecond, hospitalisation and indigent poor; third, buildings, grounds and finance. No More Loans The commission also announced that in tha future county road equipment would not be loaned, rented or leased to any person or organisation, regardlesa of ths requests re-quests made or ths use that would be made of It. This decision was reached, according to Orvel Peter-aon, Peter-aon, because of the adverse criticism criti-cism the commission has faced in the past becauss of Its "good neighbor" neigh-bor" policy. Mr. Peterson said tha equipmsnt would be kept constantly constant-ly in use on the 290 miles of road Under county supervision. A meeting of the commission waa slated for Friday at 10 a. m. to confirm appointment of deputies for various offices. The only change contemplated Is in tha county attorney's at-torney's office, where Miss Alma Krissman will replace Miss Mel Tsylor as deputy. MMs Taylor resigned re-signed to accept a position with Marl D. Gibson, former county attorney, at-torney, who Is entering a private practice here. |
