Show Spinach and Cotton Retrieve Penknife Raymond Wilkinson Jr., 5, who swallowed an open penknife in Los Angeles several days ago, ate chicken and Ice cream Monday, happy in the thought he could turn up his nose at spinach from now on, according to a United Press dispatch. The boy, a grandson of Joseph Wilkinson Wil-kinson of SO L street. Salt Lake, ate spinach and shredded cotton exclusively exclu-sively for five daya last week. Surgeons Sur-geons believed the cotton would twist sround the knife blade and that the spinach and certain coarse vegetables would "ease" the knife through the boy's digestive tract without harm to him, as they followed its course by X-ray. Sunday the ordeal came to an end and Raymond returned home from the hospital, completely recovered. The diet of spinach and cotton was prescribed after Raymond awallowed the open knife. A major operation waa avoided when the treatment was successful. |
