Show PROVO ARTIST DIES AS RESULT OF FALL i PROVO. Feb. 1J-1a cerebral hemorrhage hem-orrhage he suffered Saturdsy, when he fell on an icy sidewalk, today had prwveu lawii lur Oscar D e w s n u p Campbell, 36, widely wide-ly known Provo artist Mr. Campbell fell outside a Provo store, striking his head on the pavement pave-ment Thinking the mishap not serious, he returned re-turned to the Provo Pro-vo high school, where he was directing di-recting work on ' the scenes for the annual opera. He I V ' became gravely ill Mr. Campbell - when he returned to his home In Pleasant View and died early Sun-I Sun-I day. Born August 17, 1878, In Fillmore. ' a son of Orson Grant and Mary Ann - Dewsnup Campbell. Mr. Campbell obtained his education in the Millard , county schools and at Brlgham Young university. He later attended New York and Chicago art schools. He taught 13 years in the mechan-, mechan-, leal art and arts departments at I Brlgham Young university, Dixie col-. col-. lege at St George and Ricks Normal college at Rexburg, Idaho. At the . time of his desth he was head of the , art department of city schools. Mr. Csmpbcll was well known for ' his landscape paintings and was one of the organizers of the Provo City snd Utah County Artists' lesgue. and committee at the time of his desth. J He also was active in L. D. S. church affairs, having served several years tn the bishopric of the Bonneville Bonne-ville ward. He also was one of the original members of the Sharon stake high council. Surviving are two sons, L. O. Csmpbcll, Csmp-bcll, Salt Lake, and Elmo P. Campbell, Camp-bell, Provo. and three daughters, Marian, Ma-rian, Wanda and-Juanlta Campbell, all of Provo; a sister, Mrs. Phoebe Smoot of Provo: a half-brother, H. M. Warner of Rexburg, Idaho, and two grandchildren. |
