Bagley, manager of the organization, told 100 members ot the group attending the first annual convention Monday at the Newhouae hotel "Thousands of Salt Lake families are dependent upon milk for a substantial sub-stantial part of their daily diet," Mr. Bagley aaid, "and it la the duty of every producer to produce the highest grade of milk possible." Mr. Bagley praised the city board of health for its desire to see that all the milk coming into the city ia free from contamination, and urged the neceesity ot tightening up on all milk ordinances. He pointed out that milk consumption consump-tion at the present time Is only two-thirds two-thirds of what It waa In but that thia condition Is largely brought about by existing condition and a larger usage of canned milk. "If possible," Mr. Bagley said, "It will be the program ot the association to have all milk graded so that the consumer will know whether he Is purchasing first or second grade milk." He also urged members of the association as-sociation to cooperate in bringing about better marketing methods. Speaking on "Sanitation and Quality Qual-ity of Milk," Dr. L. A. Browne urged upon the members the necessity of i having their herds of cows inspected ! regularly and 'using more modern i methods of production. H also atressed the Importance of keeping accurate statistics on devel- opmeni or an tne animals and warned the producers to feed their cattle the best possible hay and grain. A. B. Barton, president of the association, asso-ciation, delivered an address of welcome, wel-come, and community ainging was conducted by Ebenerer Klrkham. Joseph Anderson of Lehi, president of the Utah State Farm bureeu, and Secretary of State Milton H. Welling were scheduled to apeak at the late afternoon session. A. B. Barton of Kaysville was reelected re-elected president ot the association at a special meeting held Monday at the NeWhouse hotel in conjunction with the first annual meeting of the organization. Elmer Holdaway of Vineyard was elected vice president and Clyde Gill-man Gill-man of Orem aecretary and treasurer. A. F. Rundquist of West Jordm was named assistant aecretary and Mr. Barton and A. D. Clark of Summit county were named members ot the board ot directors. |
