Show SAN PEDRO OFFICIALS WILL CONFER IN BUTTE Senators Kearns and Clark, Vice-President Kerens, ; Attorney Gibbon and David Keith Go North. Senator W. A. Clark, president of the San Pedro road, did not visit Salt Lake today, as he expected to. The train on which Senator Clark was traveling from the coast was one hour and thirty minutes late into Og-den. Og-den. which made it Impossible for him to reach this city In time to catch the train for Butte. Senator Kearns, R. C. Kerens, first vice-president of the San Pedro;-T. E. Gibbon, third vice-president, and David Keith left over the Oregon Short Line at 9:45 to join Senator Clark at Ogden. Senator Kearns, R. C. Kerens and Mr. Keith will accompany Senator Clark to Butte. When the party left here Mr. Gibbon-did Gibbon-did not know whether he would go to Butte or Los Angeles, or whether he would return to Salt Lake, but he expected ex-pected to accompany the party into Montana. . Officials Hold Consultation. The object of the trip was- not given out. It was said that Senator Clark had some important business matters to attend to at Butte, not connected with the San Pedro,- but later it was learned that the reason he asked Senator Sena-tor Kearns and the other San Pedro officials to accompany him was to hold a conference with them' and arrange the details for the construction of the road from Calientes to the coast. It is not believed, however, that there will be anything definitely settled in this matter,: but rather that plans will be arranged In detail ready to present to the directors of the company, at the meeting which is scheduled to take place some time this week. Party Will Soon Return. David Keith, a few minutes prior to his departure this morning, said that the party will return as soon, as possible, perhaps as early as tomorrow, as it is imperative that certain matters mat-ters pertaining to the transfer of that portion of the Short Line purchased by the San Pedro be attended to immediately. imme-diately. On the arrival of Mr. Kerens. Mr. Gibbon and Manager Edson Saturday afternoon, they were Joined by Senator Kearns and David. Keith, and the party,' with the exception of Mr. Gibbon; Gib-bon; left on a special train for Park City. - Sunday forenoon was spent visiting some of the larger mines there, the party returning to Salt Lake last night. , It Is believed ' that the matter of. a union depot was discussed at length, but the members of the party declined to say whether any agreemsnt had been made between the Rio Grande and the San Pedro or not. Manager Edson, accompanied by Superintendent Young, left this morning morn-ing for. Bingham on a tour of inspection. inspec-tion. Manager Edson has never before been over the branches of the Rio Grande, and will probably spend several sev-eral days going over them with Superintendent Super-intendent Young. |
