Show ; Borned in Gas Explosion. - San Francisco, May 25. Five people were severely burned by an explosion of gas yesterday. Howard J. Lawler, a printer, moved into 2tl3 Howard street and soon after the gas was turned on, the odor permeating the place. Lawler found that an old gas range connection had not been cloaed and he stopped the opening with a cork. He then lit a match to see if the gas was still escaping. An explosion explo-sion followed and Lawler was rendered unconscious. Hla clothing was almost entirely en-tirely burned. In the room at the time were Mrs. Thomas H. Lawler, the aged mother of the printer; Mrs. T. H. Lawler. Jr., his sister-in-law and two children of the latter. All were more or leas severely burned. . |
