CO.'S SHELTER, Information from the United States company's smelter received today Is to the effect that only one furnace of the equipment of Ave is now in operation, with the probability that this condition of affairs will not change for nearly a week. This furnace, it is said, is being kept up with matte and the broken up contents of the "froien" furnaces. It is hinted that before the big plant again goes into commission, many other changes will be made in addition to the one of removing the automatic feeders. Among these some methods will probably prob-ably be adopted which will terminate the loss of values through the great stack. When these and other improvements are made it Is thought the company will soon get on a paying basis. STRIKE IN CARXSA. A telephone message came in from the Carisa yesterday, stating that ' a good body of ore bad been encountered on the 100-foot level directly under the body from which the lessees have been extracting for some time past. This Information In-formation was received at the office, but it was not given out by Manager Joseph. The latter confirmed the report, re-port, however, when approached on the subject, but stated that he was not yet aennltely enough informed on the subject sub-ject to make it public. The assays on the second discovery show $16 in gold per ton, 12 ounces in silver and 4 per cent copper. . A car of Carisa ore sold this morning for $900. METAL QUOTATIONS. . Silver today is quoted at 64 cents, while lead and copper re- main stationary. MINING NOTES. The Sacramento has posted the usual monthly dividend of $5000. A dividend of $1.25 per share on Highland High-land Boy stock will probably be declared de-clared for payment In July. The ore and bullion settlements for the past week amounted to $399,700, as compared with $346,500 for the week before. be-fore. Owing to trouble at the United States smelter, finally resulting In the closing down of the plant while the automatic feeders could be removed, the bullion output of the United States company dropped off 60 per cent. T TOTAL SALES. Regular call 21.700 shares for $97417$.' . Open call 1826 shares at $1746.12. Total shares. 23.625 for $11,464.13, IMPORTANT-ADVICES I ABOUT MAJESTIC CO. Local shareholders have received Important Im-portant advice from the Boston offices within -the last few days. The feature of a number of circulars, reports, etc., being a resolution passed by the directors di-rectors In Boston, May 13th, authorising authoris-ing the borrowing of $350,000, with which to continue operations on the Beaver county property.. The directors propose to borrow this amount from the stockholders, and to show their faith in the property they offer to take $100,000 themselves. The rate of interest inter-est will be 6 per cent, payable semi-annually, and a bonus of two shares of Majestic stock will be given on every $100 loaned. A total of 40,000 shares is still In the treasury, but the directors think it advisable to borrow money now and sell the stock later, when the price Is higher, to pay off the loan. : . Another interesting document received re-ceived is the annual report made by General Manager Farish at the meeting meet-ing held in Denver recently," which has not yet -been made public. Manager Farish recommends the building of a concentrator at the O. K. mine, with the capacity of 300 tons daily, and this plan, has been approved by the newly-elected newly-elected . board. Mr. Farish says there are 700,000 tons of ore in sight in the O. K. which should be concentrated before be-fore going to the smelter. Further the report says that the Colorado Col-orado Iron Works company has completed com-pleted its contracts on the smelter in an acceptable, manner, and that the big plant Is fast nearing completion. Another Anoth-er recommendation from Mr.- Farish is that the company should build Its own railroad connecting the various mines with the smelter. This road, he says, should be a two-foot gauge, with thirty-five-pound steel rails. In conclusion Manager Farish says the development work has been fully up to his expectations, and again expresses ex-presses his belief that with proper management man-agement the Majestic will become "one of the greatest and most profitable mining mi-ning enterprises In the Rocky Mountain Moun-tain region." . pa tit: city shjpments Following are the shipments of ore for the past week, as reported by the Record r .
