Show FRENCH DERBY IS . WON BY EX VOTO PARIS, May 23. The French Derby (the Prix du Jockey club) was run at Chantilly Sunday afternoon in the presence of & fashionable gathering, including many Americans, who crowded the enclosure and stands. From 10 o'clock In the morning morn-ing trains followed one another In quick succession, carrying . thousands of persons per-sons to Chantilly. Ideal weather prevailed. The race resulted in a victory for M. de Pourtale's horse Ex Voto, at 20 to L Edmund Ed-mund Blanc's Quo Vadls was a close second, sec-ond, almost succeeding in getting up at the nish by a fine burst of speed. The favorite, fa-vorite, Vlnlcus, was no placed. ' AVhile no American horses participated in the racing, American Jockeys were well represented and secured a fair share of today's events. Mclntyre and Thompson each had one first to his credit, besides being placed in other races. . Rigby. Kansch and Nash Turner also secured places. Turner riding second horse in the fc-erbv. I |
