Show FAMOUS IN SONG WORLD Clara Louise Kcllogf, Once Great Concert Singer Visits Salt Lake. Mrs. Strakosch. better known as Clara Louise Kellogg, the once great concert singer, whose marvelous voice has been heard all over the world, stopped in the city yesterday on her way to her home In New Hartford, Conn., after a tour around the -world. Others of the party are her husband. Cecil Strakosch, and her cousin, Mls3 Julia Strakosch, the daughter of the famous fa-mous Impresario. Mrs. Strakosch was honored by an organ rrcltal In the Tabernacle yesterday yester-day afternoon, at the close of the service, ser-vice, through the courtesy of Prof. J. J. McClellan. The recital was made - up of a number of Prof. McClellan's most popular selections. Including "The Pilgrim's Pil-grim's Song of Hope." ' I Mrs. Strakosch was greatly, pleased with the musical treat, and said it was the first good music she had heard since she left her home elx months ago, and declared the organ to be one of the most remarkable Bhe had heard, especially espe-cially admiring the vox humana stops. Mrs. Strakosch was surprised at the. way in which she is remembered wherever where-ver she- goes, and said that such Incidents Inci-dents as the organ recital made her live all her old triumphs over again. The famous singer had not been In Salt Lake since her first appearance, over a quarter of a century ago. She remarked the wonderful growth and improvement of the city since that time. The party left for Denver last night. |
