There was a mysterious affair involving the probable mortal shooting of a man near the Ardsley club at Ardsley last night. Hale, president of the club, waa standing at the railroad station between 9 and 10 o'clock when he heard a shot fired up the road and not far from the clubhouse. While he stood wondering what had taken place a girl came run-nine run-nine out of the darkness from the direction di-rection of the shot and tried to board a train as it started to move away. Mr. Hale restrained her. The girl's story, which i partially corroborated, is that she went to meet John Hefferan. Hefferan met her at the Ardsley station and they started to make a call in Ardsley. They changed their minds and went and sat on a stone wall near the railroad tracks.
