Show SYMPHONY' CLUB'S ANNUAL CONCERT Artistic Musical Treat At-l At-l tended by Large and 8ril- liant , Audience at Salt LaKe Theater Friday. 'A large and brilliant audience attended at-tended the recital ef the Symphony orchestra or-chestra Friday afternoon at the ' Salt Lake Theater under the direction of Arthur Shepherd. This was the fifth annual concert of this popular local musical mu-sical organization, which have become I treats to which the musie-loving people peo-ple of Salt Lake look forward. . The selections were varied and beautiful, beau-tiful, showing the skill of the orchestra in the handling of artistic rfrusic. The solo of Mrs. Montajgue. Ferry, who has a magnificent low contralto voice, was received by the vast audience . with great enthusiasm: She sang "Like as the Heart Desireth,'? with orchestra accompaniment, and responded to an. encore - with a piano accompaniment. Willard Weihe, in a violin solo, ' ' Concerto Con-certo for Violin, Op. 64," Mendelssohn, gave evidence of his wonderful talent in bringing melody from one of the most artistic ef all musical instruments. He also gave an encore. The Wagnerian music, including selections se-lections icom " Lohengrin" and " Tannhauser;" given bv the orchestra, was specially beautiful. Other selections selec-tions were ballet music from the opera "Feramors," by Rubinstein, the Three Dances from ''Henry VIII." of German, Ger-man, and the overture from "Eg-mont," "Eg-mont," by Beethoven. |
