The ajritation ajrainst excessive reduction of the na. val construction programme has proved successful and Edmund Robertson, Parliamentary secretary of the admiralty, admi-ralty, announced in the House of Commons Com-mons todav that only one battleship of the Dreadnaugrht class would be deleted de-leted from the original programme, although al-though savings totalling $12,500,000 would be effected bv reducing the turnout turn-out of a number or smaller vessels. Mr.' Bobertson said that onlv three new Dreadnaughts would be laid down instead of four as originally proposed. |
