Show UTfiH fJINES PROMISE LMffi INCREASES SCON PAEK CITY, Utah, Oct. 2. While the yield of this district has been growing grow-ing steadily daring the last three months, it is altogether probable that 'ere long there will be a further increase. in-crease. The indications for the balance of the year are exceedingly auspicious, not only for the old-time producers, but those that have been under development develop-ment and are prepared now almost for adding to the grand total output. The next week or two are relied upon to see the Magnolia-8t. Louis company equipped for sinking. The new hoisting appliances are installed and the foundations foun-dations for the boilers completed, and the boilers are en route. A. M. Spooner, who, with George Hall, is reopening the old Climax tunnel tun-nel in Scott hill near the Scottish Chief mine, has high hopes resulting from recent re-cent showings made at his property. The old Climax was driven to a depth of 125 feet by J. A. Brown, Joseph Rob-inson, Rob-inson, now dead. Good ore was uncovered, uncov-ered, but for many reasons work could not be pursued with any profit. Mr. Hall has been superintending the work which was started by himself and Mr. Spooner, September 7. Mr. Hall has had a small gang of men at work cleaning and clearing the tnnnel and driving it into the hill. Samples Sam-ples going 4.4 in copper, with good silver sil-ver and lead values, have been taken out at a point 136 feet in and slightly lower than the floor of the tunnel. A company will probably be soon organized organ-ized to further prosecute the operations. Two shipments of first-class ore have been made from the American Flag property this week, and this is but an indication of the, splendid and encouraging encour-aging manner in which the mine is opening up. The pipe line which is to furnish water for the mine during winter win-ter has been laid, and among other improvements im-provements now under way is the erection erec-tion of a spacious ore house, where the tonnage for winter shipments will be piled up. The Daly-Judge is opening up magnificently, mag-nificently, as the result of the large amount of prospecting work done this year. Ore sufficient to keep the mine and mill on velvet, and yield SO cents per share quarterly dividend has been taken out meantime. An electric locomotive, loco-motive, for hauling mine ears through the tunnel, will be introduced soon at this property. A new engine is to be placed for the mill. In the Ontario drain tnnnel the work has progressed so far that it may open into the pent-up flood in a short time. Only a comparatively few feet remain to be pierced. The bulkhead, which had to be constructed as a means of protection to the workmen when the confined water is tapped is almost finished, fin-ished, and is 14,000 feet from the portal por-tal of the tunnel. This bulkhead is ten feet long, four feet high, and three and one-half feet wide, the opening being be-ing just large enough for a ear to pass through. Small pipes fitted into the bulkhead will permit the egress of the water at the will cf operators who can at the proper time control the flaw by means of valves. The completion of this improvement will permit the working of lower ground throughout the district for a small amount comparatively in the future, and means that the output of the camp may be expected to advance at least one-third soon after the tunnel begins to drain the district. |
