Call after call was made for him, with no . response. A searching party was or ganized, and for hours they waded through the swamp until they were exhausted. ex-hausted. Tired, weary and sick at heart as to the fate of their friend, tha party returned to Salt Lake last night. New Searching Party. A new party was at onee organized, which included Mr. Young who was one of those who had made an all-day search for the missing man. A. B. Wright, an uncle of young Wordrop, and two cousins of the deid man also accompanied the party. The party left the city shortly after mid-, night and arrived atthe grounds short-" ly before daylight. As soon as the light of the eoming day would permit the party took up the search for the missing miss-ing man. Clarence Wright, a cousin of the dead man, had proceeded about 100 yards from the shore when his attention was attracted to what looked like a part of a hunting coat. Young took hold of the end rt the coat and pulled it to the surface sur-face of the water. With a err of horror he called to the other members of the party to eome to him. The coat covered the upper part of the missing r-.an. . He had died in less than two feet of water. Probably Exhausted. It is supposed that the young man, exhausted ex-hausted from loss of sleep and food undertook un-dertook to follow a "lead" for game and that he fell, while trying to cross the slowgh. That he had made a fight -for life was evident. In one hand was a bunch of bullrushes, such as grow in the swamp, the other hand was full of slime and moss such as is found at the bottom of the lake. - Death Is Tragedy. The death of the young man is tragie in more ways than one. For a number of years the father and mother of the young man have not lived together. The mother of the yonng man established ' her home at 188 C street, where she lived with her son, Douglas and her daughter Isabelle. A little less than eighteen months ago the mother died. Since the death of the mother Isabelle has been the housekeeper. She and her brother have lived together happily. Sister Is Frantic. The sister of the dead man was informed in-formed yesterday afternoon that her brother had not vet returned from his hunting trip. "Oh, 'Doug' is all right v and will be home tonight' replied the - " sister. Hour after hour passed and the N brother did not come. The sister became worried and at last frantic, she was taken to the home or her uncle, A. B. Wright. At noon today Miss Wordrop was on the verge of hysterics and was calling for her brother. She had not been informed in-formed that the dead body of her brother lay in the home that the brother and sister hare occupied since the death of their mother. Dread to Break News. "Oh, God, how can I go and tell her, tell her that he is dead." cried Mr. Wright. "Some of you go and tell her," pleaded Mr. Wright to a number of women who were present. The mission was too great even for the tender heart of a woman to undertake. |
