Show $30,000 PAINTING BY MUBILLO DISCOVERED PITTSBURG. May 4. It Is declared that one of Murillo's masterplecea. "David Vletorloua," 64 by 7 feet, depicting David returning with the head of Goliath, hangs on the wall of the modest home of H. C. Babbitt, in Berry street, Ingram. The painting waa originally purchased it is said, from the gallery of Marshal Soult ln Paris, for 80,000 francs. On May 8, 1872, It, together with an authentication tracing it down from 1654, was purchased by 8. Augustus Parka, a wealthy artist and restorer of Boston. He died ln 1878. leaving the Murlllo to his widow. She la living with her son-tn-law. Mr. Babbitt. The painting is valued at $30,000. |
