Ask Right of Way. A petition of a right of way for a'double spur track to cross Tenth West between South' Temple and First South streets was made to the Committee on Streets of the City Council last night by the Western West-ern Pacific Railway company. The spur will run into the yards of the Utah Gas and Coke company. Art Exhibition. Th Fifth and Sixth grades of the public schools had their day as art exhibitors In the House of Representatives in the city and county nnlldlng yesterday. A number num-ber of drawings of more than ordinary merit were shown. The work of the Seventh Sev-enth and Eighth grades will be exhibited this afternoon. To Oive Lecture. Prof. Edgar L. Hewett will give a lecture lec-ture next Tuesday-evening Jn the Packard library under the auspices of the Utah Archaeological society. ji his lecture he will handle particularly the subjects of "Cliff Dwellers" and "The Archaeological Ruins of New Mexico and Colorado." Fined by Judge Diehl. Joe Brent, a waiter, was fined $15 by Judge C. B. Dlehl yesterday afternoon for beating a Kanaka, whom he pulled Into a Commercial street saloon from the sidewalk for that purpose. He was discharged dis-charged on a charge of drunkenness. |
