Show DENY STORY THAT : PAH IS IN DANGER BOISE, Ida., May 4,-Ths story that the Minidoka dam la in danger is without foundation. U is perfectly safe. F..C. . Horn, engineer In charge, is now her.. His report from the dam. written last ' evening, shows the water was then twenty-six feet below the present top of the dam, and the- rise during the day was only three-tenths of a foot. Moreover, the present crest of the dam Is six feet higher than the JSOO-foot spillway to the southward. . . , Before the water could reach the top. or the dam her would be nearly twice as much going over the spillway as has ever been known In. that river since records were kept. The diversion channel carries one-third as much as the greatest flood record of the world. The spillway and the diversion channel would carry 80.000 cubic feet a second in raoeaa of the greatest recorded flow of the river before the water could reach the present crest of the dam. The dam could not be injured at all unless a heavy flow want over the crest and then the damage would be of minor importance. It is absolutely ab-solutely safe. |
