Show LIVELY BATTLE ON LEGAL LINES Case Against -Jap for Violation of the fire Regulations. S. Kanda, a member of the Arm of the Japanese Art Treasures company, was given a trial in Judge Dlehl'a court this morning on a charge of storing and keeping inflammable and combustible materials ma-terials at the rear of 817 South Main Btreet, within the city Are limits. One of the witnesses, a Mr. Richardson, an auctioneer auction-eer connected with the firm, expressed some strong opinions as to the manner of the arrest and bringing to trial of the Japanese, and, if he Had not been prevented In doing so by the court, would nave given a graphic description of the manner in which It was done. He also expressed a strong and earnest desire to have a certain member of the police force deposed for his connection with that arrest. Chief Vail of the fire department claims to have notified the Japanese several times in writing, and also verbally, that the storing of such materials, which la this case constated of large dry goods boxes tilled with packing straw, that it was unlawful to keep such material within the city Are limits.
