Show NO JURY SECURED FOR TRIAL OF DAVIES x The trial of the State of Utah against D. Beynon Davles,, former Deputy County Clerk, on a charge of criminal conspiracy in connection with ' the bounty fraud rases, was commenced in District court this morning. Judge John A. Howell of the Second District presiding. The entire morning was taken up In the examination of Jurors. At the time of the noon recess none of the Jurors had bt-en Anally accepted. The following eight Jurors were in the box this morning for examination: Oliver Pierson. Harry Bowen. C. T. Hubbard. Hyrum Nielsen. T. J. Nipper. C. W. Midg-ley. Midg-ley. L. E. Hall and T. L. Llndley.- Of these Messrs. Hubbard, Nielsen and Mtdg-ley Mtdg-ley were challenged for cause by the attorneys at-torneys for the defendant and were excused ex-cused by the court on the ground that they had formed an opinion as to the guilt or innocence of the defendant. It Is not thought that a 'Jury will be secured today. District Attorney Loofbourow is prosecuting prose-cuting the case and Attorneys McGurrin and Gustln are representing the defendant. |
