Fire of mysterious origin broke out in the rooms of "Wells & Stone, tailors, in the Progress building at " 1 :30 o'clock this afternoon, and before it was, under control did considerable damage. v Mr. Wells rushed into the editorial rooms of the Herald and announced that the building was on fire, and in a few moments the second floor was filled with smoke and flames. The department made a quick run ''and soon had two streams of water on the blaze. At 2 o'clock the fire is under control. con-trol. The principal damage will be to the haberdashery store of E. M. Friedman, Fried-man, into which a flood of water is pouring. The Herald's , business office and offices on the third floor were also damaged, but the extent of the loss has not been estimated at this time. |
