When President Roosevelt visited Atlanta, Ga., recently, he met among other notable men', Mr. Joel Chandler Harris, the author of the "Uncle Remus" stories now appearing exclusively in THE METROPOLITAN MET-ROPOLITAN MAGAZINE. Mr. Roosevelt referred in warm terms (o the pleasure he had received from the "Uncle Remus" tales, which pleasure, he said, he had shared with all his children. "I am very fond of Uncle Bomus. Presidents may come, and Presidents may go, but Uncle Remus stays put. Georgia has done a great many things for the Union, but she has never done more than when she gave Mr. Joel Chandler Harris to American literature. "The best feature of my visit to Atlanta," continued the President, Presi-dent, "was meeting Joel Chandler Harris at a luncheon parry. By George, that was great! He is a wonderful man. I regard him as the greatest educator in the South along tao lines in which he writes. One of the very pleasant memories of my Southern trip will have been my association with him." i Perhaps the best of the "Uncle Remus" stories appears in the December De-cember (Christmas) Number of THE METROPOLITAN MAGAZINE. MAGA-ZINE. It is amusingly illustrated by A. R. Frost. There aro iwentv other features in the same issue, including TWELVE PICTURES IN COLOR.
