Show TO KEEP UP FRAUD INQUIRY m UTAH WASHINGTON. April 20. -On account of the shortage of last year's appropriation. Commissioner Com-missioner Richards of the general land office of-fice has, found it necessary to dispense temporarily tem-porarily with the services of seventeen of the eighty special agents of that bureau. They have been merely rurloughed, and will be restored re-stored to the service when the new appropriation appro-priation bill becomes available on July 1 next. In Utah, where there were two agents, one has been suspended and the other ordered to Alaska. This disposition of the men In that locality has given rlxe to a report that the general land office had concluded not to continue con-tinue the investigation Into the alleged frauds on the public domain In that State. Mr. Richards Rich-ards says there Is no truth In this report, that there has been no change In policy, and that another agent has been sent to I'tah in place of the one ordered to Alaska. |
