Show COUNCIL WANTS TO KNOW OF BOND ISSUE A resolution was Introduced in the City Council last night by Councilman Davis requiring City Recorder Critch-low Critch-low to produce at the next. Council meeting all the correspondence In relation re-lation to the sale of the water bonds. The resolution was opposed by Councilmen Coun-cilmen Barnes and Tuddenhani who declared that the information could be obtained without the matter being brought before the Council. "What reason have you that this matter should not be brought before the Council," Inquired Councilman Davis, addressing Councilman Barnes. "We have a right to know what Is being done with the bond issue. It Is a matter that the Council should be familiar with." . The resolution was passed by a vote of seven ayes to five nays. The bonds were to have been issued April 1. to fill the bid made by the Mutual Life Insurance company of New York, which took $250,000 worth of the first issue. No report has been made to the Council as to whether bonds have been disposed of. A few days ago lt was rumored that the company had rejected the bonds. This was denied by the company's representative, rep-resentative, H. S. Wells. He asserted that there had been a delay on account ac-count of legal technicalities, but that the bonds would be Issued within a |
