Wash-ii.gton. has been In the city several days looking after the fcetting ,n,( 0f special pieces of furniture for the new postoftice. The special articles referred to consist of 1 j-helves and heavy picc s that could not well be made l:i Chicago along with the other furniture. "I do not care to make a positive state- j ment that it will be so." he said, "but it ltoks as though Salt Lake would be getting get-ting her mail from the new home of the postoftice inside of two weeks. The cus-tcdlan cus-tcdlan has already received one carload of furniture and has liecii notified that another an-other was being loaded and shipped on the 2Sth ultimo, so that it ought to be here at anv moment. That leaves only one more to ship and I was in Chicago recently re-cently anil saw that most of the furniture furni-ture for this last car was almost reaxly for shipment. "It is a mistake that the clerk of the courts and the Marshal's office are not to have new furniture. They will have it In time; the old furniture is still retained r:erelv until the new arrives. The carpets will le along shortly also. I am going to Moberlv. Mo., tonight, but will be back here very Boon to look after the installation." |
