Show POLICE DON'T BELIEVE MRS. BROOKS' STORY Mrs. Laura Brooks of Park . City startled, the police department last night at I o'clock by calmly announcing- that she had been robbed of a hand baa; containing; con-taining; (2000 In currency and 12000 In gold. The robbery, she aaya. took place at the Dooly block earner a few minutes before be-fore 8 o'clock. A man. ahe said, walked up to her, anatched the purse and compelled com-pelled her to be silent by pointing a revolver re-volver In her face. ' Mrs. Brooks said that she waa planning; plan-ning; a trip to England, and had come to the city to get $4000 from a man. wrtiose name she would not give. The money, she said, was not kept in a bank. The entire detective force was put at work on the case, and Mrs. Brooks waa found to have moved two or three times from various hotels and lodging houses where she had registered during the day. Mrs. Brooks promised to sppear at the office of Chief of Police Lynch today and tell the name of the man who gave her the $4000. This she failed tn do.
