Show COMMISSARIAT STATIONS ' v ALONG THE CANAL ZONE. - PANAMA, Aug.. L Gov. Magoon has informed in-formed tha - Governor of Panama that the Canal commission has decided to establish commissariat stations for the supply of food, etc., for canal laborers along the sons, excluding ex-cluding Panama and Colon. Until now the United States has refrained from doing so on account of protests of Colon and Panama merchants, who claimed that their- sales would be decreased considerably by the establishment of the stations, but reports to Gov. Magoon state that laborers cannot buy what they need In many Instances snd for this reason are refusing re-fusing to work. Refrigerators will be' Installed In-stalled and the railroads and steamers will import food from the United States. Panama has not yet made answer to the notification, but undoubtedly will -not be pleased with the measure, which must reduce Import duties, the principal -Income of tha Republic. - : , ' |
