Indicate that the mork of registering applicants for homesteads lh the Uintah reservation is proceeding in an orderly manner. The registration opened at 9 o'clock today to-day and will continue for twelve days. Thousands of people are In line at the registration places, although early registration reg-istration affords no advantage to the applicants, aa the land will be distributed distrib-uted ly a drawing which-will begin on August 17. , A dispatch from Grand Junction says that fully 5000 strangers have already arrived in that city, most of whom Intend In-tend to register, and about 400 men spent the night' In line at the auditorium, auditori-um, where the registration la being held. The first man In line was W11--Ham Wayback of Ouray. Colo. Those left In line when registration closes at o'clock each evening will receive tickets- entltllhg them to their places in the line the next days. Several of the churches have been converted Into sleeping apartments' for strangers in the city. |
