JENSON LOCATES GUNNISON PARTY MASSACRE SCENE Accompanied by Joseph S. Black Jr.. son of Joseph 8. Black who, thirty-four years ago accompanied him on a similar simi-lar excursion, Andrew Jenson, historian of the L. Dr 8. church, yesterday vlolt-ed vlolt-ed the spot In Sevier county near Des-eret Des-eret where Captain Gunnison and party of government engineers were massacred massa-cred by Pauvan Indians In 18(2, Incensed In-censed by a previous attack made upon them by a party of white people en route to California. They swore revenge re-venge on the next white party that camped on the ground they claimed. Captain Gunnison and his party were slain one morning while at breakfast in camp without warning and their bodies mutilated and strewn along the banks 6f the Sevier river. The rem-nanta rem-nanta left by wolvea were gathered by Mormons sent out by Brlgham Young and burled.
