University Gets New Buildings During 1934 or v f The University of Utah during the last year year has ha has s the sec s seen cn- cn n the h tion of many projects in the opinion o of President George Thomas In summarizing the various university projects undertaken he said work was begun on the new v library building the thc new seismological seismological seismological seis- seis station a nursery school for underprivileged children to be housed in the home economics department and the thc drilling of a campus well Through the thc assistance of the governor governor governor gov gov- the state stale legislature and the ther r federal deral government t the university has been very fortunate in obtaining ng such uch a magnificent ne new library building build build- build ing ng President Tho Thomas as said aid It is well built commodious up to date dale and will take lake care of the thc library needs of the thc university for several decades The library is the heart of the thc intellectual life of ot any university and now that we have adequate library space the un university vcr ity will acquire books and reading material as rapidly as possible New Nursery Unit Another building which has hns been add added d to our campus during the past year Is the seismograph building I Having been dismantled led since 1931 the thc installation of the seismograph will fill a needed much link in the thc coast coast to to coast chain of earthquake recording re rev cording stations The seismograph will be installed in the new building the first of the year Housing of oC the thc new nursery unit in jn inthe inthe the home economics department is nearing completion and will function at the thc beginning of oC the year ear Children Children Chil Chil- Children dren from 2 to 5 years years' old will be betaken betaken betaken taken from families on on the thc local county relief rolls and will be cared I for at the university by students majoring majoring majoring ma ma- joring in home economics from 9 a a. a m m. to 2 p p. m. m dail daily Dr Rose H H.
