Show I PEOPLES PEOPLE'S PEO PL E CORNER POPULATION FACTORS To The Peoples People's Corner In a recen recent Issue of The Salt Lake Telegram you presented an editorial entitled Greater Salt Lake for which I 1 desire to express my dation In Iii my opinion it would be just jud as illogical now to prognosticate the future future fu fu- ture growth o of population of this city db on the basis o of curves of national implication im implication Ira Ira- or even on the basis of or local local lo lo- cal trends during the past decade or orso orso orso so as It would have been to prognosticate cate the ultimate population figures for this city cHy based on the conditions prevailing in the cart ox-cart days dOls and ignoring ig ig- ig noring the influences of improved transportation mining development ent and the extension of process industry beyond the auxiliary local requirements requirements require ments of pioneer times It is my opinion that the establishment establish ment of the Great Salt lake project and the associated Industrial development that would follow naturally naturally natu natu- rally would serve to double the population population lation of Salt Lake City regardless of any other positive influences and itis it itis is my opinion also that ultimately the I utilization of our nonmetallic mineral min mn eral resources will vill have at least as ao I great a bearing on our population trend as the present m metallic mining j. j industry which is credited as being the basic support of 47 per pCt cent of the population of this state It is gratifying to note your vision iston and optimism as indicated by the C above mentioned editorial R.
