L May I PIONEER UTAH ASSAYER ASSA YER DIES John Lewis May 70 assayer in charge of thc the United States States' assay office here died at his home Tenth avenue early Saturday of complications that developed following following following follow follow- ing a skull injury he suffered in a fall June 13 Mr May was widely known through the thc west and as an assayer and chemist was affiliated with many of the early mining developments of the intermountain region Born March 18 1862 Mr May came to Utah wi with h his mother and grandfather John B. B Lewis by covered covered cov coy ered wagon when he was 5 years old He married Mary M M.
