Show ROBERT BURKE MISSING AT SEA Seaman LC Robert Lamar Burke, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Emmett Burke, Copper-field, Copper-field, has been reported "missing at sea" by the navy department. He was known to be serving on the Liberty ship, John Straub, which, laden with explosives for the Alaskan war theater, broke in two 21 miles off Sanak island and sank with a presumed loss of (5 of the 80 men aboard. The accident occurred at 5:30 a.m. April 19. The Straub, northbound, was reported to have parted at the engine room bulkhead. Seaman Burke was born June 24, 1919, a son of Robert Emmett and Alice Leahy Burke, in Bingham, Bing-ham, and attended schools here. Prior to enlistment in the navy on July 7, 1943, he was employed employ-ed by Utah Copper company. He trained at Farragut, Ida., San Diego and San Francisco. He has a four-year-old daughter, daugh-ter, Kathleen; two sisters. Mrs. Gregory Tyson and Beverly Burke; and six brothers, PO. 3 C Russell E.
