Show PROFESSOR SAYS UTAH FARMS ARE TOO SMALL Profesor L. R. Humpherys, head of agriculture education. Utah State Agricultural college, has declared de-clared that Utah farms are too small as economical units to compete com-pete with large-scale production. "Many Utah farmers are sub-sistance sub-sistance farmers, while others are part-time farmers." he says. Twin remedies were suggested: increase scope of farming by increased irrigation irri-gation or increase the eficiency of farming. Professor Humpherys warned: "A change in Utah farming is necessary if -Utah1 is to compete effectively with other states." Explaining Ex-plaining further, he said, "lands must be leveled, ditches relocated, crop rotation adopted, and fertilizers fertil-izers used to build up the soil." |
