Termination of selective service, it was pointed out, has placed entrance en-trance into the armed forces on a voluntary basis, with the 'result that not enough persons are electing elect-ing the military life to enable recruiters re-cruiters to meet quotas. The army has an average s, monthly quota of 180, but is ac- tually getting only 50X f this number. An interesting point m connection with army recruiting 1 that 30'; of all volunteers are men who already have had military experience. ex-perience. , The navy's average quota per month for Utah is 100 and recruiters re-cruiters report they usually fill 65r'c of it. The marine corps, with th-3 lowest quota 25 is getting the highest percentage 75 rr. No figures are available as to the actual number of Utahns now serving in the armed forces, but it is believed to be about 775, the number of persons recruited since the end of the war. |
