Show Sixth, Nears M Men Title; Two Games Tonight End Schedule Sixth Downs Mapleton 34-25 In Titular Battle; Sixth vs. Third Mapleton vs. First In Tonight's Games The Sixth Ward M Men basketball quint took over the Kolob stake M Men basketball leadership here last Thursday night by virtue vir-tue of a 34-25 victory over the Mapleton M's in a hard-fought and interesting battle. Both teams were tied before the game for the lead. Thursday's win for the feixtn as- Bured thorn of no less than a tie for the stake crown, depending on the outcome of tonight's final games. Sixth will meet the improved im-proved Third Warders at 7 p. m., in what promises to be a close battle. First will clash with Mapleton Ma-pleton in the year's finale at 8 p. m. Both games loom as "naturals" "nat-urals" for the schedule's finish. In the other Thursday night game, Third ward, led by Salisbury Salis-bury and Biasell on the scoring end and Hughes and Johnson on the defense, smothered the Second Warders under, 49-18. Second led the winners throughout the first quarter, but fell short during the last half. Mower, Mapleton mainstay, main-stay, led his teammates with 15 points in their loss to Sixth. W. Weight and N. Weight counted 13 and 10 points, respectively. Har-ward Har-ward looked good on the guard line. Saturday night, the smooth-working smooth-working Third Warders pulled a near-surprise by holding the Mapleton Ma-pleton club to a mere one-point margin, 33-34. With every player playing an outstanding game, Third led the Mapleton club throughout the game until seconds sec-onds before the game ended with two foul tosses by Diamond, which sewed it up. Second wound up its league play victoriously with a smashing 42-24 victory over First. First lacked some of its regulars, however. Thursday's games wind up play in the M Men league for this year.
