Show WOOL STOCKS AND CONSU1MPTION ARE BOTH HIGH While U. S. wool stocks are more than twice as large as the 1935-39 average, annual mill consumption con-sumption is nearly one billion lbs., (grease basis) compared with the 1935-39 average of about 600 million mil-lion pounds. Domestic wool consumption con-sumption is likely to increase during dur-ing the next several months with th shift from civilian to military production necessitated by changes chang-es in the military situation. Preference Pre-ference is given -to domestic wool in awarding Army contracts. Mills have used foreign wool almost exclusively ex-clusively in civilian fabrics because be-cause of the lower pries of for-ign for-ign wool. Only 261 million pounds (grease basis) of domestic wool was used by U. S. mills during the first ten months of 1944 compared com-pared with 573-million pounds of foreign wool. |
